Hacking the OP1?
  • H_SH_S April 2012

Has anyone tried to open up either software or hardware wise? I think the memory limitations everyone seems to be bummed about could at least be augmented with a little bit of soldering... ;)

    2 issues for me:

    • a lot of the limitations are probably built into the OS/software as well. Not that that can't be hacked, it just seems like it would be a more than a soldering job.

    • it's too expensive for me to void the warranty and mess around with.

Man I'm sure if TE are still having issues with writing the os then hacking is not a good idea. Plus it's just to expensive to fuck with and works good the way it is so why bother. If you need to back up files on the move just get an android tablet with a USB port. They work great for moving files to and from the op1 which solves the issues with memory. Better paying £200 bucks for a tablet than £700 for a new op1.
